It’s fireworks season, keep your dog safe! Not all dogs are afraid of fireworks but many are. Even if your dog is not afraid now, that may change in time. Most dogs develop their fear of fireworks between five and eight years of age. These tent stores are everywhere and people buy fireworks like crazy and set them off in the weeks before and after the Fourth of July.
How To Keep Your Dog Safe
- Leave dogs at home when you expect fireworks.
- Don’t leave your dog out in the yard during fireworks.
- Keep your dog away from fireworks, they are not something to chew on or play with.
- After the fireworks, be aware when taking your dog outside as there may be pieces of fireworks on the road or in your own yard.
- Consider crating or keeping your dog in a secure, quiet place in your home during fireworks.
Use Good Fireworks Ettiquette
- Always practice good safety when setting off fireworks.
- Keep fireworks away from children and pets.
- Dispose of fireworks remnants correctly.
- Don’t set off fireworks late at night as they may disturb neighbors.
- Be aware of people who may suffer from PTSD and are not able to handle fireworks.
