Team Lime Green had another good day of sniffing last Friday. My Elite Trial was at a school about twenty minutes from our house. Mom and I were ready to go and we hoped to do well again. We searched the auditorium, two, adjoining science lab rooms, an exterior area and a commons area. I don’t know what happened but we totally forgot to take photos of me waiting and stuff. This is the only one we took.
The good news is that I only missed getting an overall placement by half a hide. A half hide happens if someone gets a no or another fault, then you lose a half hide worth of points. We didn’t lose any and ended up placing sixth out of thirty dogs. The best news is that I placed third in my science lab search and second in my commons search. This is now three trials in a row where I have gotten at least one placement. Mom and I love bringing home ribbons!
My commons search was really tough – A big area, three and a half minutes and an unknown number of hides. We used almost all of our time trying to find the one last hide ending with only fourteen seconds left. The video is that search. Mom realized I was stuck on the problem and took me to look for hides elsewhere. When I came back at the very end I was able to solve the puzzle. There were two hides at the same level in a similar location that were converging and I could not sort them out at first. Only three of us found all four hides, so it was not an easy puzzle. Mom was smart to get me out of there and to come back later with some fresh thoughts. Since I had found one of those two earlier it was a bit easier to solve the last one.
Mom was super happy with our results. We always forget that I am one of the youngest dogs at this level, which means I don’t have the experience older dogs have. I am still able to keep up pretty well. She stopped on the way home to get special treats for us all for the evening to celebrate my success. As you can see, I was not happy about sharing, but I did willingly give each of my sisters a smoked beef tendon. Of course, the bigger one was for me! I will be doing AKC sports for the month of May, Olivia is competing this coming weekend in NACSW. We are booked pretty much every weekend for the next six to eight weeks.
My GBGV Life is happy, so we’re joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
