Today we have our goals for 2025 laid out. There are no resolutions at our house as we find them silly. We all discuss what we want to achieve in the coming year with our Mom and we set our goals. Most of the time we achieve them and even more. The sports events for the coming year are popping up and we are busy deciding what and where to enter.
Our Top 2025 Goal Is Health
You know that 2024 was not a good year for health around here. This year, we want to keep Mom out of the doctor’s office as if she is broken, we are all out of luck. We also had a lot of medical emergencies with Madison in January and October which sadly did not end well. As we do every year we will go in for our usual check ups and hope that things are all good. We do what we can to eat right, exercise, and stay healthy, but we have learned that is not always enough. Paws crossed for a healthy 2025 for all four of us.
Travel Adventures
Nelson and I hope to add new states to our lists this year. There are several trials we are interested in that would give us new places to travel to and check out. We love looking out hotel windows to see where we are and what we might find. Our quote is adapted from one of our favorite Dr. Seuss books, Oh, The Places You’ll Go. We are hoping for another four or more new states in 2025.
Hotels are always fun too. We enjoy jumping on the bed(s), someone enjoyed shredding a roll of toilet paper on our last trip, and we have fun walking in a new place. Because we are a rare breed, people always want to know all about us. Sometimes we feel like movie stars because everyone wants to pet us and take our photo.
Bailie is happy to stay home and said she would like everyone to stay home with her. Mom said that isn’t going to happen, so she decided staying home with the pet sitter will continue to work. She can wait for us to come back which is better than a car ride anywhere.
Nose And Scent Work Titles
Bailie is up in the air about doing anymore sniffing. Mom would like her to finish her NW3 nose work elements but only at local trials. She would love for her to earn her AKC Masters Title in Scent Work, but it is highly unlikely. We will see what they decide as the year progresses. Bailie doesn’t care one way or the other.
I’m going to try to get another Summit Title with higher placements. Now that there is the Elite Premiere, I’m hoping to earn at least one of those titles as well as an Elite-S Title. I need two level three elements in NACSW to finish off my elements. If they are offered I will enter those. I’m done with AKC Scent Work, so that is that. Once Nelson finishes his Detective Title we may both enter Detective for fun.
Nelson has some hefty goals. He would like to finish his Elite Champion Title in 2025 and work on some of the level two elements if they are offered. He also needs to finish his AKC Masters Scent Work Title by getting two Interior Q’s and then he needs eight Detective Q’s for that title. The guy is pretty good, so I have no doubt he will do well with his sniffing goals.
FastCAT Title
I’m retired from FastCAT since I want to keep my number one spot as long as I can. Nelson needs about six more runs to earn his FastCAT2 Title and that will conclude his FastCAT career. Hopefully he can do that in late spring.
Tracking Certification And Test
It’s hard to believe but I still don’t have my tracking title! I got certified in 2019 and tried one test that same year. Being super young, I didn’t pass and then COVID hit. My certification ran out. I tried to certify with Nelson but my track was disrupted by some guys working in the field and I didn’t pass. Mom and I really want me to earn my TD, Tracking Dog Title along with Bailie, Madison, and Nelson. Hopefully I can get certified and then get into a test in the coming year. The photo is from my original certification, too bad they expire after two years.
Those are our goals for 2025. If we can all stay healthy, the goals should all be attainable and a lot of fun along with some fun travel adventures. We have our paws crossed for a really good year coming up!
